League of Akwa Ibom Professionals have advocated for a diversification from the oil to other non oil sectors of the economy as the world evolves to embrace biotech, Information and Communication Technology, Mechanized agricultural, Artificial intelligence and among others.


The call was made during the FIRST GLOBAL WEBINAR ON THE COMPETITIVENESS OF AKWA IBOM STATE today on the theme: AKWA IBOM @33, FOUNDATIONS AND IMPERATIVES FOR GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS organized by LEAGUE OF AKWA IBOM PROFESSIONALS, National Headquarters, Abuja. The Keynote Speakers: Ray Ekpu and Prof. Kenneth Ife reemphasized the need to build institutions, sustainable leadership and diversification of the economy from oil to other non-oil sectors.







A member of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Bar) Onofiok Luke offered complimentary remarks as Akwa Ibom @33 soars to #BecomeMore significant in the Committee Of States. In his commentary, Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok, Director General, Nigeria First Project tasks Government and corporate leaders to optimize the opportunities in government to advance the frontiers of people-centric leadership.
The League has challenged the Akwa Ibom people especially the professionals to channel their key industry-skills and networks along with the rich natural and human capital base of the state for competitive advantage.
Meanwhile Dr Enobong Umoessien, President, League of Akwa Ibom Professionals, National Headquarters, Abuja and Sir Ini Akpabio, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the League have expressed appreciation to the keynote speakers, all Akwa Ibomites (at home and in diaspora) including Amb. Simeon Uwa, Executive Secretary of International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP) – Africa and others that participated in the webinar.
The league resolved to present a strategic document to the Akwa Ibom State Government arising from the imports and sundry issues raised during the Global Webinar as part of her strategic support to the development of the state especially as the government and people of Akwa Ibom lined up activities to mark the 33rd Anniversary of Akwa Ibom State creation.
