The newly-elected executive officers of the League of Akwa Ibom Professionals, Abuja, an association of professionals from Akwa Ibom extraction resident in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its environs have been inaugurated to pilot its affairs for the next two years.
The 2020 Elections of the League of Akwa Ibom Professionals were held on Monday, August 31 at the usual venue of meetings of the Association.
The new executive council which has Dr. Enobong Umoessien as president, unveiled the association’s working agenda and resolved to improve the narrative of its members, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.
The swearing in of the officers took place in Abuja shortly after a keenly contested election into various executive positions also has the following officers: Umoh Ekanem – vice president and Mr Kenneth Edagha as secretary -general of the association.
Others include: Miss Peace Akpakip – Assistant Secretary, Mr Edet Adams -Treasurer, Mr Nsikan Kalu Udoh – financial secretary, Mr Iniobong Daniels -publicity secretary/ public relations officer (PRO), Mr Angel Udoh- welfare secretary, Mr Kizito Ekeng -auditor and Felicia Umoh, a lawyer as the legal adviser of the association.
In his acceptant speech on behalf of the new executive officers, the president, Dr Enobong Umoessien, appreciated the election committee members and the entire members of the association for the peaceful conduct of the election that brought them to office.
“It is with a deep sense of appreciation and responsibility that I wish to, once more, convey the gratitude of our new executive and myself to you for the confidence reposed in us to be elected to lead our elite club – The League of Akwa Ibom Professionals, National Headquarters, Abuja – for the next two years. We say again thank you very much.”
While reiterated the association’s commitment to improve the narrative of The League, Umoessien, said the new exco under his leadership has resolved to make the 2020 – 2022 a project league year for the association.
He said, “we will take the economic and development focus of the Government of Akwa Ibom State, under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel as the departure point. We will as well leverage our rich membership and reach to drive, broker and mobilize investment and projects to our state.”
The president said his administration would implement programmes that would enhance the capacities, especially entrepreneurship and enterprise capacities of members of the association and the citizens of the state.
“We hope to contribute to the creation of jobs, employment and the good life to the state and the larger Nigeria. My business model is summarized in my three – arms (IPC) work programme on institutional development, projects promotion/delivery and communications.”
